Bitcoin investor unveils portfolio companies

bitangels23 Jan 2014 / Austin Business Journal – A fast-growing Bitcoin incubator said Thursday it has invested $7 million in 12 Bitcoin-based businesses since May.

Incubator BitAngels, which has an office in Austin, unveiled its business strategy focused solely on early-stage startups with Bitcoin-based revenue models.

Investments included Bitcoin layer “MSC Protocol,” Bitcoin payment platform GoCoin, Seasteading incubator Blueseed, Bitcoin instant exchange Cash Into Coins, and Austin-based Bitcoin mining hardware company CoinTerra Inc.

Bitcoins are a digital currency, or crytptocurrency, based on an open-source protocol.

Executive Director David Johnston said the BitAngels came together at the Bitcoin 2013 Conference in San Jose, Calif. Besides Austin, it has office locations in San Francisco and New York, according to a report by VentureBeat….. Read more
