Dude, you’re getting a Dell, with Bitcoin

dell18 July 2014 / PC World – In case the headline didn’t tip you off: Yep, you can buy Dell products with Bitcoin now, as Michael Dell himself proudly trumpeted on Twitter earlier today.

A post in the Dell blog revealed some of the finer details. Just like ExpediaOverstock.com, Dish TV, and the boutique PC builders at Xidax (who also accept Dogecoin), Dell is partnering with Coinbase to provide a Bitcoin payment option on Dell.com. Electronic retailers Tiger Direct and Newegg use Bitpay’s processing services, though the end result is the same: You give them your virtual Bitcoins, and they’ll give you their physical tech goodies. Details such as how returns will be handled haven’t been revealed yet.

Dell says Bitcoin payment options will start appearing on the site within 14 days. Once they do, Dell plans to kickstart sales by offering a 10 percent discount (with a $150 cap) on Alienware rigs purchased using the e-currency that the IRS doesn’t consider to be a currency….. Read more
